Ellen Weinstein
2019 Illustration Institute Faison Residency Artist 

Ellen was born and raised in New York City. She is a graduate of Pratt Institute and New York’s High School of Art and Design. Ellen has illustrated children’s books such as Yayoi Kusama: From Here to Infinity, and is the author and illustrator of Recipes for Good Luck: The Superstitions, Rituals, and Practices of Extraordinary People. Her editorial clients include The Atlantic, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, GQ Magazine, Pentagram, and more. She lectures and conducts workshops in various art schools nationally and worldwide. Ellen’s work has been honored by Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, Communication Arts, Print Regional Design Annual, and Global Art Director’s Club.

Illustration Institute raises appreciation for and awareness of illustration in its many forms. It offers people of all ages the opportunity to learn from master artists and working professionals through exhibitions, workshops, and talks at public libraries, museums, schools, and other community venues.
