Welcome to Shinebolt’s new online gallery.
Our first exhibit, Fill in the Blanks by Jessica Esch, is a typelooping series born during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. Each piece starts with a statement or phrase that Esch wants to dwell on which she then types repeatedly until a conversation emerges. This series plays with both the repetition of daily routines during the pandemic and the centering of mantras in the face of uncertainty. They can be experienced as image and text.
In creating Fill in the Blanks, Esch drew from her engagement with the Smithsonian's Archives of American Art. Read about her time in the Archives in a two-part blog series published by the Archives: Treasure Trove: Archives as Inspiration and A Friendship Forged in the Archives. View the artist statement. View or download press kit. Also, watch Jess talk about the collection here.
Works in this exhibit are not yet available for purchase. If you would like to be notified when pieces become available, please contact angela@shinebolt.com.
